Can you tailor nylon pants?

Can I tailor nylon pants?

Nylon does not do well with “Stitch Witchery” – the iron on stuff – because the iron will melt the nylon, so I don’t recommend it. A fairly inexpensive last resort would be to take them to a tailor and ask his advice. Since you only have 36 hours though, he wouldn’t have time to hem all of them more than likely.

Can tailors make pants smaller?

A tailor or seamstress can shorten them, either by cutting off some fabric and redoing the hems or taking up the hems in a way that doesn’t involve cutting the fabric. When it comes to cutting jeans shorter, your tailor will mark the correct length with chalk or pins.

Can you alter polyester pants?

On the flipside, there are certain fabrics that don’t accept dye very well, and few fabrics at all can be lightened more than one or two shades. Polyester and acetate can’t be dyed without factory-grade machinery. Leather is also very difficult to alter.

How much can a tailor take in pants?

The waist of a pair of trousers can be let in or taken out 2-3″. Look inside the seat for extra fabric at the waistband – this, minus half an inch or so, is as far as you can take the pants out. Trousers are easily shortened, but lengthening them requires fabric at the hems.

Waist Too Small or Too Big

If you feel like you are suffocating inside your pants (they are super tight around the middle) or that the waist is too big and the pants are falling off of you, a tailor can take the waist in or out pronto and give your trousers a more comfortable fit.
