Should you wash towels before embroidering?
Wash and dry the towel before embroidering on it. Terrycloth is cotton, and it will shrink. It’s best to get the shrinkage out of the way before embroidering. A template is a printout of a design, and it’s an excellent tool for planning where to stitch.
Can you embroider a towel without a stabilizer?
The biggest mistake you can make when embroidering on towels is to try to hoop them (which I have done – so dumb). Towels are thick and are therefore very difficult to get into an embroidery hoop – especially straight. But – there is no need to hoop a towel when you can float it so easily.
Do you have to hoop stabilizer?
All machine embroidery requires a stabilizer applied to the back of the fabric to prevent stretching, waving, pulling and skewing the design, but hooping fabric can be a frustrating challenge. The answer? Don’t hoop the fabric. Use a sticky stabilizer and hoop it, not the fabric.
